Metabolic Wellness

Metabolic Wellness Reset

The American Medical Association estimates that over 90% of the US population suffers from poor metabolic health.

This is a two-part program to revitalize your metabolic health, which focuses on the Five Pillars of Wellness: Nutrition, Movement, Sleep, Stress, and Social connection.

It begins with a five-day Fast Mimicking Eating Program (FMEP), a curated, modified fast to promote weight loss, digestive health, and mindful eating. Part two, the Healthy Habits Education Program (HHEP), is a series of 6 sessions focused on modifying your daily habits to create lasting improvements in your health.

The FMEP is inspired by the work of Dr. Valter Longo (University of Southern California) and the ancient practices of Ayurvedic Medicine. It includes:

  • Group cooking class, Sunday January 12
  • Three meals/day to provide minimal nutrition for daily activities, while supporting the body to cleanse and repair
  • Daily group support

The modified fast will run from Monday January 13 - Friday January 17. Each day at 5pm, the group will meet at Ragle Ranch Park for fitness, a walk, and community support to begin building positive, new habits.

The FMEP is key to preparing the body and mind for the next section of the Metabolic Reset.

The Healthy Habits Education Program takes place in six sessions, Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:30 - 7pm, for three consecutive weeks, beginning on Wednesday January 22, and finishing on Friday February 7. It is designed to help you choose foods, exercises, and lifestyle habits that improve your metabolic health and build resilience by:

  • Cultivating satiety
  • Finding your ideal weight
  • Enjoying sustained energy
  • Enhancing your flexibility, strength, and balance
  • Improving your health-span

Each class will include an interactive presentation on nutrition and lifestyle habits along with a fitness session, tailored to your individual needs and goals. We will use continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to assess your ability to metabolize different foods. You will be given a free Cronometer Pro account, to log your meals. By viewing both your CGM data and your meal logs we will be able to provide insights into your individual metabolic needs and provide dietary and lifestyle advice. Cronometer will also give you access to our healthy recipes.

This program is limited to 6 participants, to enable individualized coaching. Cost for the whole program is $450.

FMEP alone is $275, HHEP alone is $275

Fast Mimicking Diet starting this week!
Food prep Sunday October 27, 10-12 noon in Sebastopol (or join us online)
Space limit - register now!

The Fast Mimicking Diet (FMD) will be a group experience of eating a very low calorie diet for five days, to receive the benefits of calorie restriction, without the challenges and potential harm of living for longer periods in a low calorie state. FMDs have been extensively researched in both animals and humans by Dr. Valter Longo, the Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California. His research has shown that FMDs can significantly reduce risk factors for various age-related diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, by lowering markers like insulin resistance, inflammation, and cholesterol. We will be integrating FMDs with the tradition of mono-diets historically used in Ayurvedic Medicine. The benefit of a mono-diet is there is low "food reward", making this low calorie five-day experience easier.

The program will include meeting in person (or online) on Sunday October 27in Sebastopol, CA to prepare our food for the upcoming week. We will be meeting at a beautiful property with an exquisite outdoor kitchen close to downtown. Everyone will need 15 pint size containers that they will fill with a delicious lentil soup (vegan and grain free); The recipe is tailored to be low in calories while providing adequate protein and fiber to support good health. Each day of the upcoming week these pints will be eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The value of this experience is multifold:

  • An opportunity to tune in to mindful eating before the holidays.
  • A low calorie regime that will put your body into "clean up mode", removing cells that are damaged or senescent.
  • A limited dip into weight loss mode, without resetting your metabolic "set point".
  • A week where all your meals are prepared in advance.
  • A group program to connect, share support and motivation.
  • Daily group meetings, in person at Ragle Ranch Park, or online, to workout, discuss any challenges, and go for a walk together.
  • Prepare for the upcoming Metabolic Wellness Reset November 6 to 22 (see below)

Sliding Scale $100 to $350, no one turned away for lack of funds.
